More than 600 cyclists travel 52 km and pass 12 religious monuments in a bike challenge to Christ the Protector

Cyclists cover 52 km passing 12 religious monuments to Christ the Protector. An event brought together around 600 cyclists from more than 100 cities in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina in a challenge: cover 52 kilometers. The destination? The Christ Protector of Encantado, in the Vales Region. Inaugurated in 2022, the statue measures 43.5 meters, including the base, and surpasses Christ the Redeemer, in Rio de Janeiro, by 5.5 meters. The first edition of the Mountain Bike Faith Challenge, in Roca Sales, brought together professional and amateur athletes. The start was at 8am on Sunday (16), in front of the town's main church. The participants followed roads in the interior of Muçum and Encantado. Arriving at the monument marked the end of the challenge. ? Access the g1 RS channel on WhatsApp "The route was simply wonderful, passing through beautiful landscapes, in the middle of nature, through the countryside, neighborhoods and also through city centers. Each stretch had a different beauty and made the pedal even more special", says cyclist Graziela Spohr. From the start to the finish, they passed by 12 religious monuments and, in each of them, they received a ribbon like the Lord of Bonfim. "A detail that made everything even more beautiful were the ribbons placed at each stop and in each church, making our bikes more colorful and giving the route a special charm", highlights Graziela. Places sold out in two days. "The project included 600 cyclists free of charge, when I say free: t-shirt, cap, squeeze bottle, breakfast, entry to Christ", explains the resident of the Brazilian Association of Extreme Sports and Culture (ABERC). For the next edition, the organization expects to bring together 800 cyclists.
