NAM Atlântico (A140) opens for free visits at the Port of Santos, SP Disclosure/Brazilian Navy The largest warship in Latin America docks at the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, this Friday (17). Measuring 203 meters in length and capable of carrying up to 18 aircraft, NAM Atlântico (A140) is open for free visits on Sunday (19), from 9am to 4pm. Access will be on a first-come, first-served basis, at the Port of Santos Naval Complex (CNPS), at Cais da Marinha, s/nº. Discover the NAM Atlântico (A140) Related Galleries Originally built as HMS Ocean by the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom, the NAM Atlântico was acquired by Brazil and became the flagship of the Brazilian squadron in 2018. g1 gathered some interesting facts about the vessel. The vessel was designed for the tasks of controlling maritime areas with power projection by land, sea and air. Despite this, the ship is also suitable for humanitarian missions, helping victims of natural disasters and peacekeeping operations. In 2024, the ship was mobilized to help victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul (remember below). He was also in the Iraq War in 2003 and participated in naval operations in support of humanitarian actions in the Caribbean islands, affected by Hurricane Irma in 2017.
