The suspects are Francisco Ray Rodrigues Magalhães, 22 years old, boyfriend of the child's mother, and Roberto Levy Oliveira Magalhães, 26, Francisco's cousin. According to investigations, the two were in the family's apartment, in the Dionísio Torres neighborhood, at the time of the crime.

At the hospital, professionals found that the baby showed signs of sexual violence. The child did not survive his injuries and died.

The two men were arrested in the act and had their detention converted into preventive detention. According to investigations, Roberto Levy was found on the baby's body, while Francisco Ray was in a relationship with the child's mother.
In addition to them, other people were taken to the police station to give statements.
In a statement, Francisco Ray's defense stated that the person being investigated collaborates with the investigations, voluntarily submitted to the collection of genetic material and denies any involvement in the crime.
According to lawyer Gleyce Kelly Leitão, the suspect claims that he was not in the same room where the baby slept. The defense also said it was awaiting the conclusion of the expert reports and asked that due legal process and the presumption of innocence be respected.
The report was unable to locate Roberto Levy Oliveira Magalhães' defense.
The Forensic Expertise of the State of Ceará (Pefoce) reported that it carried out examinations at the scene of the crime and the cadaveric examination of the victim. Laboratory analyzes are ongoing and will be forwarded to the responsible police authority as soon as they are completed.
The Civil Police are awaiting the results of the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the crime and define the participation of each person under investigation.
