Jacareí sees a drop of more than 70% in traffic deaths from January to May

Jacareí ended the first five months of 2026 with a 72% drop in the number of traffic deaths on municipal roads, compared to the same period of the previous year. The data was recently released by Detran's Infosiga portal. According to the survey, from January to May 2025, seven deaths were recorded, while this year, there were two deaths, both involving motorcyclists. Jacareí City Hall Disclosure Safe traffic According to Infosiga, Jacareí is considered the city with the safest traffic in the Paraíba Valley, among municipalities with more than 200 thousand inhabitants. This is the fifth consecutive year that Jacareí has ??led this important road safety indicator. “Our objective is for Jacareí to have zero traffic deaths on our roads and that is why we work throughout the year to raise awareness among our drivers, since in the last year, for example, 94% of fatal accidents were caused by reckless driving”, stated the Secretary of Urban Mobility, Edinho Guedes. Actions The numbers are the results of constant traffic education work, such as expanding cycle paths, the Heavy Load Route Program, a new Road Maintenance Program (pothole filling), painting and signage on the roads. In addition, the Urban Mobility Secretariat carries out the Junior Traffic Agent Program, starting with 9-year-old children in schools, in addition to lectures at companies, driving schools, events and educational blitzes.
