The possibility of a union between Janaina and Pivetta gained strength behind the scenes after the publication of a joint effort attributed to agribusiness megaproducers Eraí Maggi and Blairo Maggi, who would try to make the alliance viable.
The main objective of the movement would be to remove the parliamentarian from the race for the Senate, paving the way for the re-election of Senator Carlos Fávaro (PSD), current Minister of Agriculture under President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).
"No, [this conversation] never happened. I was never called and I'm a candidate for the Senate. It's difficult for a woman to constantly have to reaffirm her position," she told the press.
Janaina also once again reaffirmed her candidacy for the Senate for the party of which she is president in Mato Grosso.
"I've already decided not to talk about this any time I'm put in doubt. I've already told the press several times, I've already officially spoken out saying: 'I'm a candidate for the Senate for my MDB party'", he stated.
“Look, I’m willing to talk about future coalitions, but I’m not willing to negotiate my candidacy,” he added.
Pivetta had also denied the rumor last Saturday (28). According to him, this information would only be speculation. “There is no conversation in this regard.”
Obstacles
As anticipated by MidiaNews, the movement would have the objective of taking Janaina out of the dispute to, in theory, favor Fávaro.
However, one of the main obstacles to the alliance is the fact that today Janaina is in opposition to the Government in the Assembly. The eventual coordination to bring them closer together would be led by agribusiness leaders.
Asked about the matter, governor Mauro Mendes (União), who exchanged barbs with Janaina over the last year, stated that the moment is one of speculation and that the alliance is “unlikely”.
"The season for political speculation is open. I've already seen a dozen possibilities. For now, they are possibilities and it may be confirmed down the line. But today she is in the opposition, I think that is unlikely," he stated.
