Rogério Meira participated, this Thursday (20), in a meeting held at the Mato Grosso Association of Municipalities to discuss the impacts of the El Niño phenomenon in the municipalities of Mato Grosso. The debate was attended by the Minister of Institutional Relations, José Guimarães.
On the occasion, the mayor presented to the minister the challenges faced in Jangada due to multiple outbreaks of forest fires and burning. These challenges led the municipality to declare an emergency situation last Tuesday (18).
With the decree, all bodies and entities of the municipal administration are mobilized to develop actions to prevent and combat fires, in addition to providing assistance to the population. The city hall may also request support from state and federal institutions, such as the Military Fire Department, the State Civil Defense and other competent bodies.
According to the municipal manager, the municipality already has three aircraft, more than 22 firefighters, ten City Hall employees, five members of the Civil Defense, four water trucks, one of 20 thousand liters and three of 10 thousand liters, two 8 thousand liter tanks, in addition to various equipment intended for fighting fires.
“We are working tirelessly in this very complicated moment that we are going through in the municipality of Jangada”, said Rogério Meira.
