The evolution in the quality of Education in the municipal education network of Araucária was proven by the data presented in the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb). The municipality jumped from an average of 5.9 (2023) to 6.5 (2025) in this index, which assesses the progression and performance of students. It is an achievement that the City of Araucária, through the Municipal Department of Education (SMED), is keen to share with Education professionals, parents and, mainly, with all students from the 1st to the 5th year. The Department of Education's team assesses that "the results of our municipal network show a clear leap in quality, which should fill our professional staff and parents and students with pride. No unit has regressed in grade in relation to the previous assessment, and almost all of them showed a very important evolution. This encourages us to continue moving forward to improve even further." The Ideb grade is the result of evaluating students' performance in Portuguese and mathematics (through the Basic Education Assessment System – SAEB), and is also linked to the school pass rate. The index began in 2007 and serves as a “thermometer” for the quality of teaching in public schools. On the national average, a score above 6.0 is already considered “good”. Highlights The results also show that there is a large group of municipal schools in Araucária, from different regions of the municipality, with excellent grades. The Professora Silda Sally Wille Ehlke Municipal School, in Iguaçu, once again stands out with the highest score in the municipal network: 7.8 in 2025. In the 2023 Ideb, the score had already been 7.5. For example, in the 2023 Ideb, only the Silda Sally school had exceeded the 7.0 grade range in the assessment.
