Chosen from around 800 candidates, Gui Ventura, 37, from Minas Gerais, received the approval of the singer himself in a meeting marked by admiration and emotion, shown by Fantástico. See the video above. When introducing the actor, Gil recalled the impression he had upon seeing him during the selection process. "He passed a test that had more than 800 candidates. He arrived, started singing, started playing. I said: the heart smiled. Then, when the heart smiles, that's where it goes", said the artist. A fan of Gilberto Gil since childhood, Gui said that playing the singer is an honor. In the musical, he assumes one of the central roles of the narrative, functioning as a kind of narrator of the story. "Every time I have to put myself there in Gilberto Gil's place, I feel very honored and very happy", he stated. During the conversation, the actor revealed that his desire to live Gilberto Gil arose about a decade ago, when he began studying acting. "When I started studying acting, my first impulse was: I still want to be Gilberto Gil in the cinema. Ten years after that desire, I'm here with this great responsibility", he said. The statement drew a good-humored response from the singer. "Be careful with your wishes, because they will come true", replied Gil. Although he is the person honored in the montage, Gilberto Gil showed embarrassment in the face of so many demonstrations of admiration. "I'm ashamed. I'm all embarrassed. That's the feeling," he said. Directed by Miguel Falabella, the musical covers different phases of the singer's life and work and brings together a cast of 34 actors from various regions of the country.
