Fenattech Engenharia turns nine years old and stands out in solar energy in the region

What began as the subject of an academic work turned into a company that today develops solar energy projects in different regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Founded in 2017, in Paracambi, Fenattech Engenharia completes nine years following the transformations of a sector marked by technological advances, regulatory changes and new consumer demands. Along this trajectory, 6,594 thousand solar panels have already been installed by the company. Fenattech has 343 customers in its base, a number that also considers services provided to consumers from other companies, including those who were left without support after installation, and estimates that its systems have already provided around R$14 million in savings. More than expanding the number of facilities, the company began to diversify the services offered. Each project is developed according to the client's characteristics and needs, considering factors such as consumption profile, available structure, energy generation objectives and the need or not for storage and backup energy. Founder and control and automation engineer Arthur César had his first in-depth contact with solar energy during his undergraduate studies, in 2015. The intention was to study something that could generate social impact and was related to sustainability. At a time when the photovoltaic sector was still taking its first steps in the country, Arthur began to study the topic and seek training. His academic interest also turned into a professional activity: before founding the company, he began teaching courses on solar energy. It was in this process that the possibility of entrepreneurship emerged. In 2017, alongside a fellow electrical engineer, Fenattech was born. Neither of them had experience in business management and, according to the founder, the business started with few resources and much more technical than administrative knowledge. Knowledge sharing continued to be part of the company's trajectory in the following years. Lectures and workshops in schools and other institutions were used to introduce solar energy concepts and raise community awareness about energy efficiency and renewable sources. Archive/Fenattech Expansion across Rio Headquartered in Paracambi since its foundation, Fenattech maintains a strong presence in the municipality and is currently positioned as the largest solar energy company in the city, where it carried out its first projects and built an important part of the portfolio. Today, the company carries out projects throughout the state of Rio de Janeiro. Among the projects that marked this trajectory is a solar farm built in 2020, in the rural area of ??Paracambi. The installation of around 270 panels required the search for a suitable area and a logistical operation in difficult-to-access terrain during the Covid-19 pandemic. The project became one of the examples of the technical and operational challenges faced by the company over the nine years. In 2023, Fenattech went through one of the most delicate periods in its history, amid changes in the distributed generation market, a decline in sales and an internal reorganization process. Law No. 14,300/2022, which established the Legal Framework for Microgeneration and Distributed Minigeneration, established new rules for the sector and gradually changed the way electricity is compensated for new consumers. With the changes coming into force in 2023, companies in the segment also needed to adapt to the new scenario. The company's structure was reduced and, later, expanded again. Hybrid systems, battery storage and solutions aimed at continuity of supply began to occupy more space in the market. The movement follows a global trend. The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that global renewable capacity will practically double by 2030, with solar photovoltaics accounting for almost 80% of this growth. Storage is also advancing: in 2025 alone, 108 GW of battery storage capacity was added worldwide, an increase of 40% compared to the previous year. At Fenattech, this technological advance already appears in the projects developed. In addition to traditional photovoltaic systems connected to the grid, the company works with solutions that combine solar generation and batteries, allowing energy to be stored for later use and keeping essential equipment in operation during interruptions in the utility's supply. The choice, however, depends on each case. Before installation, the team assesses the consumer's needs to define which configuration best meets the property and the project objectives.
