Former employee suspected of embezzling R$150,000 from a clinic in Piauí is arrested in Pará; more than 20 customers harmed

The investigation showed that the woman worked in the administrative and financial sector of the establishment and had gained the trust of the owners. According to the Civil Police, the woman had appropriated amounts paid by customers for around two years. "Using access to the company's financial routines, it would have appropriated, for approximately two years, amounts paid by patients to carry out prolonged and more expensive dental treatments, especially dental implants", detailed the Civil Police. The Civil Police also explained that the estimated loss of R$150,000 involves the owners of the clinic and more than twenty clients of the establishment. According to the investigation, the woman allegedly tampered with documents and financial information to hide the destination of the funds. The woman would have left Piauí towards Pará, where she has family, after believing that the deviations could be discovered. The suspect had taken to Pará a functional cell phone from the clinic with conversations, records and other relevant information, according to the Civil Police.
