(FOLHAPRESS) - Businessman Ivo Vel Kos, arrested on Saturday (15) on suspicion of assaulting his wife, had his name linked to his participation in parties during the pandemic and is also being investigated in an administrative proceeding by the CVM (Securities Commission).

The case of aggression against dentist Giulia Melo Falcão Vel Kos, 27, took place on the sidewalk of the businessman's house, which is close to Avenida Faria Lima, in the west zone of São Paulo. He has worked in the financial market for decades, but is not seen by the business community as a prominent professional in the sector.

The report tried to contact his defense via email and WhatsApp message this Tuesday morning (18), but received no response.

Ivo Kos, 48, is the heir to an upper-class family in São Paulo, with businesses in the real estate and financial sectors.

His parents, Olga and Wolf Vel Kos Trambuch, preside over the Olga Institute, an entity that works to include people with disabilities and develop public policies through projects in the areas of sport, arts and research approved in tax incentive laws.

The institute released a statement on its website saying that its activities "are not to be confused with the private life or possible individual conduct of people linked, directly or indirectly, to its board."

"Preserving this distinction does not mean minimizing any situation, nor anticipating any judgment on the facts. It means recognizing an essential principle of justice: each person must answer for their own actions, and each institution must be evaluated by its own practices, values, governance and results", states the note.

Wolf Kos was also one of around 250 names chosen by the government to join the so-called Lula Council at the beginning of the PT member's current term, a group made up of businesspeople, lawyers, academics and trade unionists created to participate in dialogue between the government and civil society.

His son's name gained more repercussion when he participated in gatherings during the pandemic. On New Year's Eve 2021, he released a photo hugging friends, without a mask, in a restaurant in Trancoso, on the coast of Bahia.

At the same time, in the capital of São Paulo, the Civil Police opened an investigation following a complaint from the Ame Jardins residents' association, which stated that there was noise from parties at his house. The case was dropped years later.

In 2025, the businessman's name made waves again when the CVM opened a process to investigate irregularities in the application of funds from CRIs (Real Estate Receivables Certificates) and CRAs (Agribusiness Receivables Certificates) issued by one of his companies, the securitization company Virgo. Ivo Kos is on the list of defendants in the case.

At the end of the year, he left the company, which was renamed Riza Securitizadora.

In June this year, he presented a proposal to pay a fine of R$700,000 and stop holding management positions for a few years, but the agreement was rejected. As a result, the administrative process remains open.

Securitization is a process that brings together credits to transform them into securities that can be traded on the market. In practice, a company that has debts to receive can advance these receipts through a securitization company, transforming them into a financial product.

The securities generated from this mechanism can be sold to investors, who receive payment in the future, with interest included, when the debt is paid off. Examples are CRIs and CRAs, securities issued by securitizers and linked to receivables from the real estate and agribusiness sectors, respectively.

Ivo Kos has stakes in other companies, some of which were closed in recent years. Among those that remain active on the Federal Revenue register, he is a partner at ER18 Consultoria Imobiliária, focused on buying and selling properties, which also has David Leon Rubinsohn as a partner.

About two months ago, Rubinsohn accused Kos of attacking him inside a synagogue, pulling his hair and showing him a knife, according to a police report.

According to the report, David financially helped Kos, who was facing a financial crisis. The transfers would have exceeded R$1 million, with the partner promising to pay the amount later, which would not have happened.

Currently, one of Kos's companies, Felk Soluções Financeiras, has a debt of around R$640,000 with the Union.

The report found two properties in the businessman's name, both in a chattel mortgage with banks, including the house where he lives, on the street where he was filmed attacking his wife.

Dentist had already accused businessman of marital rape before assault

Dentist Giulia Melo Falcão Vel Kos claims to have reported her husband, Ivo Vel Kos, for marital rape before the episode of domestic violence that led to the businessman's preventive arrest. The Civil Police investigates the accusations
