Inmate is recaptured after escaping from a women's prison in Ananindeua, Pará; another remains at large

An inmate who escaped from the Coqueiro Women's Detention Center (CRF), in Ananindeua, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, was recaptured on Monday (17) by the Military Police. The escape occurred last weekend, and the location of a second fugitive was confirmed by the State Secretariat for Penitentiary Administration (Seap). According to Seap, the recaptured inmate is Maísa Gonçalves de Assis, located by agents in the early hours of Monday. She had escaped from the prison unit in the company of Andreza Cristina de Azevedo Gonçalves, who remains at large. The police reported that searches to try to locate and arrest Andreza are ongoing throughout the region. Suspected links to factions Maísa Gonçalves de Assis had been arrested months ago in the 40 Horas neighborhood, also in Ananindeua, during a police operation. Investigations showed that she is suspected of having active involvement with criminal factions operating in the state of Pará. Seap did not disclose details about the circumstances surrounding the escape of the two inmates from the Coqueiro Women's Detention Center. An administrative procedure must be opened to determine how the inmates managed to escape from the place.
