Be wary of emails or messages with charges in the name of the City Hall

Araucária City Hall warns residents and business owners to always be suspicious of billing messages in the name of City Hall. This is because there have been frequent reports of false messages about supposed financial issues to be settled. The advice is to never click on suspicious links or provide personal or company information and confirm the veracity through an official City Hall contact. In a more recent situation reported to the Municipal Finance Department (SMFI), the email communication warned of the possibility of a fine if an Operating License was not regularized. The message mentions a “Department of Urban Licensing and Works of the City Hall”, and neither this sector nor the mentioned server exist in the municipal administration. The most serious thing is that the email contained a link to check the alleged irregularities. Clicking on a suspicious link is very dangerous, as it may result in the collection of sensitive information, such as passwords, banking or credit card details. This alert applies to contacts via email, cell phone message or any other type of contact. Any communication from Araucária City Hall is carried out through official channels and duly filed documents. If the resident/businessman does not know the contact's telephone number/email, it is best to confirm with the City Hall, in the responsible sector.
