During the mobilization, oral health teams will be present in seven Family Health Units (USFs) to receive children and carry out assessments of the structure located below the tongue. The change popularly known as “tongue tie” can, in some cases, interfere with tongue movement and make breastfeeding difficult.
The evaluation will be carried out by the units' dental surgeons. When there is clinical indication, the child will be referred for continued care and, depending on the case and the flow of the municipal network, may undergo frenectomy or lingual frenotomy, procedures used to correct changes in this structure.
The action will be carried out in the following units:
• USF Jardim Imperial II
• USF Jardim União
• USF Trash
• USF Parque Atalaia
• USF Parque Atalaia II
• USF Parque Ohara II
• USF Dr. Fábio
The initiative is part of the Golden August actions and seeks to expand access to the assessment of children who present signs or difficulties related to tongue movement and breastfeeding.
In cases where the procedure is necessary, the child will follow the care flow of the municipal health network. Frenectomy is also performed at Dental Specialty Centers (CEOs), upon referral, according to professional evaluation and indication.
The initial assessment at the USFs allows us to identify situations that require monitoring and guide parents or guardians on the next steps within the network.
In addition to the oral health action, the 72 USFs in Cuiabá will be open this Saturday (22) for Multivaccination D-Day, with a focus on updating the records of children and adolescents from birth to under 15 years of age.
Among the available immunizers are vaccines against polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis A and B, yellow fever, influenza, Covid-19, meningitis, rotavirus, HPV, chickenpox, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough, in addition to others provided for in the National Vaccination Calendar.
The application will be carried out according to age, vaccination history and recommendations from the Ministry of Health. Therefore, parents and guardians must bring the vaccination booklet, as well as an identification document and SUS Card, so that the team can check the doses already received and identify possible delays.
The 2026 National Multivaccination Campaign began on August 3rd and continues until September 1st. In Cuiabá, all 72 USFs participate in the strategy.
The program takes place during Golden August, which also reinforces the importance of breastfeeding and taking care of the health of the mother and baby.
