The São Paulo State Department of Health issued the alert this Wednesday (15) after identifying four suspected cases of the disease. According to the local city hall, two of them, if confirmed, will be classified as imported. Since 2020, no cases of measles have been recorded in São Bernardo.
On July 9, primary care and epidemiological surveillance teams carried out blockade sweeps around homes where people suspected of having the disease live. The employees informed the population, checked the vaccination status and administered the vaccine to those who did not have the full schedule.
On that occasion, more than 520 visits and 800 interviews were made. Most residents were on the full regimen - the teams administered 89 doses.
The municipalities of São Paulo and Guarulhos maintain the same recommendation. The zero dose does not replace the routine schedule provided for in the National Calendar of
Vaccination. Even children who receive the extra dose need to take the first dose of triple viral at 12 months and the second, preferably with the tetraviral, at 15 months.
