City Farm FAG will have four days of programming that brings families closer to the countryside

Anyone who thinks that agribusiness is far from the routine of those who live in the city may find a different reality during City Farm FAG. Between the 26th and 29th of November, the FAG University Center, in Cascavel (PR), hosts the 6th edition of the event, which brings together activities linked to the field, technology, research, animals, gastronomy, entertainment and knowledge for audiences of different ages. The proposal is to bring the community closer to a sector that is present daily in people's lives, from food production to the technologies used in the field. For four days, the campus transforms into a space for experiences that allow you to learn about different stages and areas related to agribusiness. An initiative that was born during the Agronomy course expanded the programming and audience throughout the editions. Disclosure. An event to get to know the countryside up close For the FAG Center's Agronomy coordinator, Ana Paula Morais Mourão Simonetti, the expansion of the public follows the evolution of City Farm itself. "At the first City Farm, Agronomy students brought guests, who were family or friends linked to agriculture, such as rural producers and technical course students. That's how we started to bring more people to learn about technologies", explains Ana Paula. According to her, today, with a larger event open to the general public, the presence of families allows contact with different aspects of the program, which includes rural elements, such as plantations, seeds, machines and animals, as well as entertainment and research. This means the event can reach different members of the family. The presence of animals is one of the ways to bring the public closer to a reality that is often far from everyday urban life. The participation of Veterinary Medicine also became part of City Farm's programming, expanding the event's approach to different areas of animal production. According to the coordinator of Veterinary Medicine at the FAG Center, Adriano Ramos Cardoso, presenting this reality to the community also contributes to expanding understanding of the agribusiness chain. For Adriano, the presence of Veterinary Medicine at City Farm follows the breadth of agribusiness itself. The area contributes to the event based on knowledge related to animal production, management, nutrition and disease control, which are part of the production chain. "The Veterinary comes to work in disease control, management, nutrition and animal production. The Veterinary is incorporated in this sector. We are inserted in the process", he states. The presence of animals brings visitors closer to different aspects of production and veterinary activity. Disclosure. Countryside, technology and knowledge Although it has activities aimed at entertainment and coexistence, City Farm maintains its proposal of presenting to the public the transformations taking place in agribusiness. Machines, technologies, agricultural crops, research and solutions developed for the field are part of this scenario. The presence of companies also allows visitors to have contact with equipment and technologies used in production, while students and professionals can learn about new developments and establish connections with the market. For Mark Reginatto, director of innovation at Centro FAG, this approach helps to show that agribusiness is also a sector marked by innovation. According to him, agribusiness is increasingly connected to technology and innovation, and City Farm allows this movement to be presented in an accessible way for different audiences. “By putting people in contact with technologies, research and solutions that are already part of the field, we are able to show that innovation is not something distant, but is present in different stages of production and directly influences the way we produce and consume”, he adds. Experiences for different audiences City Farm's programming also seeks to create experiences that can be enjoyed by those who visit the event without necessarily having a professional or academic relationship with agribusiness. The proposal includes entertainment, gastronomy and social spaces, in addition to technical and academic activities. Among the attractions that have gained space in recent editions is the three barrel race, which returns in 2026 and expands the programming related to culture and activities in rural areas. Over the years, the organization started to think about activities that would allow visitors to not only watch the event's actions, but also participate, learn about and experience it. According to the administrative dean of Centro FAG, Jaqueline Gurgacz Ferreira, this approach expands the role of the event within the community. "We want students, professionals, producers and families to find spaces for learning, coexistence and experiences at the event. This integration is an important part of City Farm's proposal", he shares. Getting closer to the public is also part of the FAG Center’s training proposal. During City Farm, academics from different courses participate in activities and have contact with professionals, companies, researchers and visitors. Afonso Cavalheiro Neto, academic dean of the institution, believes that this experience expands students' learning possibilities: "An event like City Farm allows students to experience situations that complement what is worked on in the classroom.
