Municipalities in the south of Rio Grande do Sul have accumulated rainfall volumes between 100 mm and 250 mm since Sunday (16/8). The extreme rain occurred due to the combination of very hot and humid air, transported by a jet stream at low levels, with the presence of colder air to the south. The contrast favored the formation of a hot front, which dumped rain for days at a time between Uruguay and the south of the state.
