Rain of 100 mm, wind and hail are expected to hit areas of 3 of the country's capitals

Saturday (11) will be severe weather for areas of Rio Grande do Sul, the entire state of Santa Catarina and the south and west of Paraná, including the Metropolitan Regions of the three capitals (Porto Alegre, Florianópolis and Curitiba). The expectation is for rain of up to 100 mm throughout the day and intense winds that can vary from 60 km/h to 100 km/h.

Due to these conditions, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) published an orange alert, which symbolizes danger, for these areas, also indicating the risk of hail, electricity cuts, damage to plantations, falling trees and probable flooding.

According to the map above, the following regions should be the most affected:

- Rio Grande do Sul: northwest and northeast of Rio Grande do Sul and the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre

- Santa Catarina: Mountain Region, west, north, south, Vale do Itajaí and Greater Florianópolis

- Paraná: Metropolitan of Curitiba, southwest, southeast, west, center-south and center-east of Paraná

In total, Inmet's orange alert is valid for 590 municipalities in the three southern states (see the list here).
