RS Civil Police investigate death of 4-year-old girl in Porto Alegre The mother of Samylle Valentina Borba Ramiro, who died at the age of 4, told the police that she had not seen her daughter for at least two months. The police questioned why the child was not with his mother, who had sole custody. According to the police, the mother detailed how her daughters were divided. "She ended up separating from her partner and went to a friend's house. She would not be able to take the girls with her. As a result, the older girl started to live with her father, and the younger girl was under the guardianship of a friend, a trusted person who lived on the same street. Soon after, the aunt took the child to stay with her", explains the delegate. She was taken to the health unit by her uncles. The police were called immediately after doctors found signs of violence on the child's body. According to the Military Brigade, the uncle left the scene when the vehicle arrived. The police are searching for him, as his testimony is considered essential to clarify the case. "We are still trying to locate him to take his statement, as he was one of the last people who had contact with the girl, so his statement is essential at this moment", says delegate Alice Fernandes, responsible for the case. Samylle's aunt has already been interviewed by investigators. According to the delegate, the woman collaborated with the authorities. "She gave all the statements and to this day she is still considered a witness." To assist in the investigation, the Court authorized the extraction of data from a cell phone seized from her aunt and uncle's house, where the girl was living. The contents of the device are considered crucial by police to understand the context of the death. A preliminary expert examination shows that the girl died as a result of multiple injuries to her body. An official and conclusive report will still be issued by the General Institute of Expertise (IGP). So far, there are no suspects formally named in the case.
