WASHINGTON, USA (FOLHAPRESS) - Minister Márcio Elias (Brazilian Development, Industry and Foreign Trade) and the United States trade representative, Jamieson Greer, are expected to meet via videoconference next week. The information was confirmed by the Brazilian minister to the report.

Heading the USTR (Office of the United States Trade Representative), Greer sought out Elias after the telephone conversation between Presidents Donald Trump and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In a note, the ministry states that President Lula's call and President Donald Trump's signal for the resumption of talks "open a new channel of dialogue and reinforce the prospect of a negotiated solution, as has always been sought by the Brazilian government."

Greer heads the body responsible for US trade negotiations and leads the investigation that resulted in the new tariff on Brazilian products. The American government announced meetings that should take place in Wisconsin with representatives from countries participating in the G20 - this year, the USA will host the meeting, which will take place in December in Mar-a-Lago.

The hammer has not yet been decided on who should participate in the event - Minister Elias or Minister Mauro Vieira -, but the PT government must send a representative to the meeting.

According to the American government, the discussions will address a series of topics, including the elimination of forced labor in global supply chains, updating the Most Favored Nation (MFN) principle, condemning the use of food trade as a weapon and tackling structural excess capacity and production.
