The strengthening of the Municipal Guard, combined with investments in technology, intelligence and training of patrol officers, has directly reflected in the reduction of crime rates and the population's sense of security. The municipality is considered the safest in the Metropolitan Region of Campinas (RMC) among cities of the same size, according to the Connected Smart Cities Ranking. The results also appear in statistics from the Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo (SSP-SP). In the first four months of 2026, Americana recorded a drop in the rates of homicides, vehicle thefts and thefts compared to the same period in 2025. "Public security is achieved through planning, investment and valuing people. We work to offer structure, technology and conditions so that our security forces can act efficiently. The results show that Americana is on the right path and that our population lives in an increasingly safer city", highlights Mayor Chico Sardelli. Technology at the service of the population The modernization of public security has been one of the priorities of the municipal administration. Among the main investments is the Digital Wall, a system that has more than 200 cameras distributed at the city's entrances and exits and at strategic points, allowing real-time monitoring through the Security and Intelligence Center (CSI), considered one of the most modern in the State of São Paulo. In recent years, the City Hall has also invested in renewing the Municipal Guard fleet, in the acquisition of state-of-the-art drones, in the modernization of weapons and in constant training to improve the patrollers' performance, expanding their ability to prevent and respond to incidents. More patrollers, more protection Strengthening the corporation also involves increasing its number. In 2026, the Municipal Guard of Americana received reinforcements from 32 new patrollers, who completed a 1,200-hour training course, aligned with the National Curricular Matrix for the Municipal Guards. The training brought together theoretical and practical subjects, including traffic officer and environmental officer training, weapons, ammunition and shooting instruction, police approach, driving emergency vehicles, police self-defense, ethics and citizenship, in addition to the use of instruments with less offensive potential. For the commander of the Municipal Guard, Marco Aurélio da Silva, investment in people is as important as investment in technology. "A prepared, equipped and constantly trained Guard can act in a more efficient, preventive and integrated way with other security forces. The increase in personnel expands our presence on the streets and strengthens the daily work of protecting the population, directly contributing to the reduction of crime rates", he states. With planning, continuous investments and integration between technology and operational activities, Americana continues to strengthen its public safety policy and offer greater peace of mind and quality of life for its residents.
