August Lilac 2026 proposes alliance against domestic violence

This month in Araucária is marked by the August Lilás campaign, an opportunity to talk about preventing domestic violence. The campaign focuses on strengthening the culture of respect. Throughout the month, the Araucária Network to Combat Violence Against Women will promote lectures and educational activities aimed at different audiences. Considering that prevention begins with correct information, schools, companies and other institutions can request lectures via email falemulher.araucaria@gmail.com. It is important to provide the institution's basic data, such as name, address, contact details of the person responsible, what type of activity you want and for which audience. The actions are aimed at women, men and teenagers, and can be carried out in schools, companies, institutions and public bodies. They are varied and suitable for groups of more than 20 people, and include specific initiatives with women, information about the Network to Combat Violence, as well as activities with teenagers (boys and girls aged 13 and over) or lectures aimed exclusively at men over 18. Enfrentamento Araucária has stood out for strengthening public policies aimed at protecting women. Since the creation of the Women's Service Reference Center (CRAM Eliane de Lima Purger), in February 2018, no victim of feminicide in Araucária had been accompanied by the protection network's services. In 2025, CRAM provided 13,721 services. Between January 1st and July 22nd, 2026, 6,962 have already been registered. CRAM offers specialized psychological and social care, risk assessment, guidance on rights and safety and builds, together with each woman, strategies to break the cycle of violence. When necessary, it also promotes referrals for legal assistance, psychotherapy, professional qualifications and work opportunities, providing access to rights and strengthening autonomy. Another important service in the network is the Maria da Penha Patrol, from the Municipal Public Security Secretariat (SMSP), which currently monitors around 1,300 protective measures granted by the courts in favor of women victims of violence. In addition to in-person visits and telephone monitoring, depending on the needs of each case, the Patrol monitors compliance with protective measures and acts preventively. The municipality also makes available the panic button, a device that allows women with a protective measure to immediately call the Municipal Guard when there is a risk of non-compliance with the court decision, enabling a quick response from the teams and, when necessary, the arrest of the aggressor in the act. It is worth remembering: in any case of violence against women, the Municipal Guard team can be called 24 hours a day, by calling 153. Whether you are a relative, neighbor, friend, acquaintance or not, reporting this type of violence must be everyone's commitment to save lives.
