Accused of kidnapping, killing and raping a 5-year-old child is sentenced to 36 years in prison in Pará

The trial took place this Thursday (13) in Belém. The crime took place in September 2024 in Altamira, southwestern region of Pará. Defendant Cleyton Oliveira Gomes confessed to having killed the girl. He was convicted of qualified homicide, kidnapping, false imprisonment, sexual crime and concealment of a corpse. Even after confessing to the murder, Cleyton's defense argued that there was not enough evidence to convict him of the other crimes, but he ended up being convicted by the jury. Sarah was playing with her brother on the edge of a stream when she disappeared. The girl was found dead after missing for days. The body was in a location about 2 kilometers from where it had last been seen. ? He was arrested and indicated the place where the victim was. The body of Sara Raabe Silva do Nascimento was found in a wooded area close to the Viena neighborhood and was buried the following day. Given the repercussion and commotion generated by the case in Altamira, the Court of Justice decided to transfer the trial to Belém, to ensure the impartiality of the jurors. The accused was interrogated via video call, directly from a prison cell. The defendant had already been in prison since 2024.
