According to the administration, the rate went from 7.8 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in 2023 to 5.9 in 2024 and fell to 3.76 in 2025, a different rate from the estimate of 11.9 per 100,000 inhabitants presented by the Violence Atlas. The city hall stated that it has been investing since 2023 in training the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), in the acquisition of equipment, in expanding the use of technology and in strengthening the Ferrazense Integrated Monitoring Center. It also informed that it intends to expand the GCM's workforce through a public competition scheduled for 2027, update the corporation's legislation and maintain investments in technology, prevention and integration with other security forces. Itaquaquecetuba In a note, the city of Itaquaquecetuba reported: "The City of Itaquaquecetuba informs that, since 2021, it has been expanding investments in public security with the strengthening of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM). During this period, new vehicles, weapons, equipment and technologies were incorporated, in addition to the intensification of agent training and integration with the Civil and Military police. The actions allowed to expand the corporation's operational capacity and make the work more strategic in confronting to crime. The measures implemented remain permanent public policies. Among them are preventive and overt patrolling in all regions of the city, integrated operations with state security forces, camera monitoring, use of police intelligence to direct teams, inspection in areas with higher criminal incidence and protection of public facilities, such as schools, health units and municipal buildings. Currently, the Public Security Secretariat coordinates GCM actions based on problem-oriented policing, using intelligence, analysis of criminal indicators and strategic planning to define operations. One example is the work carried out in Parque Residencial Marengo, on the border with Suzano, a region that has historically concentrated homicides related to drug trafficking. With the permanent presence of the GCM and integrated operations, the neighborhood recorded the elimination of these crimes and the dismantling of criminal factions.
