Work is also being carried out to restore the pavement, which was damaged by the fall of the walkway. The driver of the truck that hit the structure was arrested and taken to the Vargem police station. According to the Civil Police, he was charged with the crime of manslaughter while driving a vehicle. According to the police, the vehicle was above authorized dimensions in height and width and did not have the special traffic authorization necessary for this type of transport. He was arrested for manslaughter and culpable bodily harm and is scheduled to undergo a custody hearing this Wednesday (19). Police said there was no evidence of speeding. The breathalyzer test also did not indicate alcohol or drug consumption. After the accident, the driver was taken for medical care and, after being discharged, he was arrested red-handed. The company XCMG BRASIL, owner of the equipment that was being transported, released a statement regretting the accident and clarifying "that it was not responsible for carrying out the transport operation, which was being carried out by a specialized company contracted to provide the transport service, responsible for conducting and operationally executing the logistics activity".
