(FOLHAPRESS) - President Lula (PT) mocked this Thursday (2) the rule of electoral legislation that prevents pre-candidates from participating in the inaugurations of public works from Saturday (4) and said there was a "disgraceful parrot".
The PT member also once again addressed women on different agendas, promising to toughen the sentence for those who commit the crime of feminicide, amid the erosion of his main opponent, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), with the female electorate.
"I'm coming here today because I can only inaugurate the work until July 4th. Because of the elections. But I can visit the work. So I'm going back to see the medical school, other works. But it's like visiting without saying anything. Just visiting, like that [waves]. Damn parrot", said Lula, in a joking tone, when talking about electoral legislation.
The statement was made during the inauguration of the Major Sales Tunnel, in the city of Luís Gomes, in Rio Grande do Norte. The tunnel belongs to the Apodi branch, which is part of the São Francisco River Integration Project with Hydrographic Basins in the Northern Northeast.
The president's idea was to reach Luís Gomes at the moment when the water would start to flow through the tunnel, which did not happen. According to Lula, there was a "calculation error" and the builder responsible for the work reported that the water arrived close to midnight. "Throw a party, a forró, on the edge of the tunnel, film it and send it to me", said the president to the mayor.
Pre-candidate for re-election, Lula is doing a marathon of acts in the Northeast this week. This Wednesday (1st), he completed three agendas in Bahia, a state fundamental to the president's victory in 2022 by securing an advantage of 4 million votes over Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
This Thursday, after passing through Rio Grande do Norte, Lula headed to Ceará, for commitments in the cities of Quixeramobim and Juazeiro do Norte.
During the ceremonies, ministers and allies have praised the Lula government's deliveries and numbers. The platform is also used by other pre-candidates.
This Thursday, in Luís Gomes, the governor of Rio Grande do Norte, Fátima Bezerra (PT), greeted pre-candidates for the Senate and the state Executive. Former secretary Cadu Xavier is the PT's name to succeed Fátima Bezerra.
Nods to the female audience
"We are making a pact against violence against women. The pact against feminicide. And we are going to get tougher. The citizen who hits a woman will have to be punished, will have to wear an ankle bracelet. And increase the penalty for those who kill women", said Lula, during the agenda in RN.
Last week, Michelle Bolsonaro published a video saying she had been humiliated and mistreated by Flávio. Bolsonaro influencer Paulo Figueiredo, an ally of the PL pre-candidate, attacked the former first lady and said that women vote very poorly.
Since the end of last year, Lula has been giving speeches against femicide in public events.
"We only exist because we were born of a woman. So, if they put us in the world, we need to learn to respect them. The same way you respect your mother, your sister. Respect. And no violence."
Later, during a delivery ceremony and announcements linked to the Transnordestina Railway, in Quixeramobim, Ceará, Lula spoke about the subject again.
"Women, every opportunity you have to study, study. Because for us, men, a profession is a guarantee of stability, for us and our family, of finding a job. But, for women, education is something else. It's something called independence. Because no one can live with a man because of a plate of food or because of rent", said Lula.
"Because you, women, have already learned how to go to the job market. But we, men, haven't learned how to go to the kitchen yet, wash the bathroom, change children," said the PT member.
Throughout his term, Lula also accumulated a series of sexist statements.
In April last year, for example, he called the general director of the IMF (International Monetary Fund), Kristalina Georgieva, a "little woman" and, the previous month, he said he had appointed a "beautiful woman" (Gleisi Hoffmann) in the ministry to "improve the relationship" with Congress.
Lula criticizes Flávio for suggesting that Trump tariff Brazil after the election
Senator sent a document to the American investigative body stating that a reduction in tariffs would be a political victory for Lula. Flávio sent a dossier within the scope of the commercial investigation initiated by the USTR based on Section 301
